Camping Zonnehoeve

Food forest

Pick your fruit and nuts FRESH from our food forest!

Where can you freely wander, discover what grows in nature, and pick something fresh and delicious? During a stay at our campsite, you can harvest apples, pears, nuts, berries, and more from the food forest. You can also explore the herb garden to find fresh herbs to beautifully garnish your meal.

By promoting biodiversity, we aim not only to boost the growth of the vegetable garden but also to contribute to a healthier world where we live in harmony with nature.

Fruit and nut trees have been planted at all camppitches and along the central paths. Almost all trees bloom richly in April–May and bear fruit in June, July, August, and September. There are also many walnut trees, which help keep the summer buzzers, also known as mosquitoes, away.

If we take care of nature, nature will take care of us!

In our food forest, we combine agriculture and nature for sustainable food production. The biodiversity, ecological resilience, and biomass productivity of a food forest are high. Thanks to a pond and hills, a wide variety of plants can thrive on a relatively small area. It also offers the perfect setting for a delightful walk and invites you to marvel at all the scents and colors of nature.

Want to help out? You’re very welcome!

Are your green fingers already itching, and have you put on your gardening gloves? How fun! There’s always something to do in the Food Forest. From time to time, we organize vegetable garden mornings and nature workdays. You can check the chalkboard in the dishwashing area to see when we’ll be working in the garden.
